Okay so my homie and was listing to Raekwon "Cuban Linxs (The Purple Tape)" and I asked him "Is this a top ten album?" & he replied "naw but it's really good" than I said " Is it top 50?" & he replied "HELL YEAH" than he gave me a look like I just disrespected his MAMA!!! I told him "look I'm not saying that this album is not a top 50 Hip-Hop album but you can't give me that look like it's impossible for it not to be? I know Hip-Hop is fucked up right now but there is at least 50 great Hip-Hop album so if the purple tape didn't make the cut at least you know Hip-Hop has and is still doing it's thing"
After that convo I decided that I would list my TOP 50 HIP-HOP ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. PLUS THE BEST BAR & VERESE ON THE ALBUM NO MATTER WHO SPITS IT....But...there are rules to this...
Rule 1...I have had to listen to the album. I cant say thats something is a Top 50 album if I never sat down & listen to it. So don't be crucifying me cause Ice Cube's "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" is not on this list...Sorry but I never took the time to listen to it.
Rule 2...Impacting & timing plays a great role in my decision...When Rakim dropped Paid In Full it changed the way rappers spit & gave birth to the Nas/Jay/Big type of NYC rappers....So is Paid In Full > than Illmatic/Reasonable Doubt/Life After Death???
